Stumbled upon this Etsy interview with Sophie Blackall while taking a break from studying today. I have come to a conclusion that people who love what they do, talk about it in the most wonderfully serene way. It's a joy to listen to her and I only hope one day I will talk about my job the same way.
“i like drawing animals, but i’m ashamed to say i almost always want to put clothes on them”
Brooklyn-based illustrator Sophie Blackall was in search of inspiration when she stumbled upon the infamous Missed Connections section of Craigslist. In this Internet realm of love lost and found, anonymous posters chronicle the one who got away, hoping that the object of their affection will remember the shy stranger who offered an umbrella during a freak hail storm. Sophie immediately knew she had found her muse. That fateful revelation led to a collection of tender works, culminating in her recently published book, Missed Connections: Love, Lost & Found.

I've named her 'The coat girl'. Everything about this outfit is right up my alley. It seems so fuss-free but at the same time everything works and the colour palette is just brilliant. I can only dream of looking this good in the winter.Labels: Fashion, Inspiration
Created a Polyvore account today, which is probably not the best thing to do while I'm trying to spend less time on the computer but it's another idea of mine to mark my 100th post and to make this blog a little more personal/ interesting. Hopefully one day I'll have a decent camera and actually look good in photos so I don't have to resort to polyvore for WIWT posts.. but in the mean time this will do.
Anyway, this was what I wore today to grocery shopping. It's of course not the exact pieces (except for the necklace) but I've tried to make it resemble the real outfit as close as possible, even down to the colour of the jeans. It's really simple and tomboyish which made me happy. Not that I'm sad when I look feminine but it makes me happier when I dress like a boy :-) Choosing what to wear is becoming easier after de-cluttering my wardrobe and making better decisions on the clothes I buy. This time I only took half an hour to get ready. I'm quite pleased with that.
Tomorrow's Monday again and we are getting back our PW results. Fingers crossed for everyone!Labels: Musings, WIWT
You should definitely check out The Golden Diamonds.
I remember coming across her blog last year, and for some reason did not bookmark it. But I chanced upon it again recently and I'm hooked. Her style is so much more polished and (for the lack of a better word) classy. Even when she's wearing loud prints, it never even looks over the top. And I never thought anyone could look classy in ripped jeans. These are just some of my favourites:

How perfect are the coats and that suit?
I was thinking maybe I should do more posts like this and share some of the blogs I visit frequently. Yay or nay?
ps. sorry for being a bad blogger recently, I was out of it for a while but I promise to post more regularly from now on :-)Labels: Fashion, Inspiration

In this project, Time, John Clang photographs pedestrian traffic along the city streets of New York at various times. He then tears multiple photographs into strips, akin to the pieces of a broken mirror, and then puts them together into a single frame. By combining split seconds into one moment he confronts issues of intimacy among crowds of strangers.
I can't even begin to express how breathtaking this is to me.Labels: Art
